AXP’s Company Trip at Cameron Highland ~ Day 1

Our trips began…

I never write my blog in English! Since this is our company trip, let me try to write in English, otherwise, my English level may become worsen in no time.

Today, my alarm woke me up at 4 am, that’s right, 4 o’clock in the morning. As usual, I need to do exercise before Sam came to pick us up at about 5 am. Things moved smoothly as we finished our breakfast before 8.30 am at Seremban rest stop.

It's "rare" that four of us could take photo together

After the petrol tank was filled up, it’s my turn to drive in order to let Sam had a good rest as he drove since 4 am. According to our plan, we reached Simpang Pulai rest stop at about 11.15 am. While we were waiting for other colleagues from Kuala Lumpur, we ate fruits and Helene was so excited to take lot of photos by using her new Lumix LX3.

All gals from JB office, isn't it looked like "traffic light" (red, yellow, green)?

After ½ hour, we departed for Kampung Raja at Cameron for lunch. Ken told us that it will take about ½ hour to reach there. Since it was weekend, there are a lot of cars and slow moving vehicles, it’s difficult to overtake at the hilly and sloping road, we took almost 1 ½ hours to reach the place when everyone were so hungry.

It's my turn to drive... Camry. Why was Alice become so tall?!

We had a delicious lunch by spending about RM200 for 15 persons, quit a good bargain thought most of the dishes are vegetables - to suit us (thanks for AXP members' consideration). Ken’s been there for a few times, the lady boss, Apple-jie, know him and she is also from JB. What a coincidence!

When our stomachs were full, we proceeded to our destination. It took around ½ hour to reach Desa Anthurium Apartments, the place that we are going to stay for the next three days. It’s located at about 2 - 3 km from Brinchang town centre towards Tanah Rata town centre.

Picture taken from our apartment, AMAZING view!!

Golfing experience at Cameron Highland

After we have unpacked our luggage, Ken and I decided to play golf at Cameron Highland Golf Course. It’s about 1 -2 km from Brinchang town centre. Currently, the club house is under construction, and thus, the parking place is located adjacent to the club house. There is no clear signboard to the parking place and registration area but luckily we managed to find it without much problems, with our mouth...!

Green fee for this golf course is RM84 per day for weekend, and RM50+ per day for weekday. Indeed, we can play unlimited rounds for the whole day at this fee, it’s value for money, but too bad, we reached there at about 3.45 pm, and we only managed to finish 10 holes notwithstanding we have paid RM84. Thanks to the "slow playing" flight in front of us!

After discussion, we decided to carry our golf bag to save the trolley fee. Not a bad decision indeed. Though it’s a bit hilly, but still manageable, unlike Kluang Country Club, with caddy, I still almost fainted!

Nice scenery at hole 4 with enthusiastic golfer - it's me...

Definitely, scenery at this golf course is awesome, and it feels like playing at Perth as the weather here is very nice. I didn’t even sweat though we walked for 2 ½ hours. Nevertheless, the design of the course is quit messy, with some cross over holes, very confusing, the sense of direction must be very good in order not to play the wrong holes or to the wrong green, and get hit by others from another holes. Generally, it’s another great round of golf although we couldn’t finish 18 holes.

My ball's about 50m from the flag on third shot, with my newly bought smaller bag

Indeed, I felt very sorry to “abandon” our colleagues, especially to extend my apologies to the organisers, Vivien, Helene and Kenneth, and again, I wish to take this opportunity to thank them as well for giving me such a wonderful memory! I owe to them!

While we were out for golfing, other colleagues had games at the apartment, and subsequently, they went to pasar tani at Brinchang town to buy food, see how aunties chose and bargin for fresh food while young girl and guys were waiting patiently.

First night at Cameron

We finished 10 holes at about 6.15 pm, and subsequently, we drove to Brinchang town centre for steamboat dinner. It’s very crowded in town and we could hardly find a parking place, we are considered lucky to find one within 10 minutes.

Yup, for me and Alice, vegan food only but it’s very, very nice to have dinner with all our colleagues. It's so warmth! That’s much more important than the food.

From left, Vivien (my right hand), Wendy (from KL office) and my dearest

At about 9 pm, we had our meeting for sharing of company’s directions, core value, etc. That’s really a very emotional and sensational meeting where everyone “dig out” our hearts and did things that we don’t normally see.

When I started to share a story with them and mentioned about how difficult our parents grew us up and how we should repay them, suddenly, my tears burst out without my control and until I was wordless for few minutes. I didn’t even manage to finish all I want to say… Subsequently, all girls and ladies, and of course, my buddies burst out tears at their turns of sharing.

After my mum passed away, this is the second time I cried in “public”. First time, when we were leaving my mum’s cementary after she was buried. And this is the second time, I really don’t know why as I always tried to control myself and I can make it… until today… I can’t control anymore...

For some people, it maybe funny to cry during meeting. For us at AXP, we care for our people (one of our core value: CARE for customers and our people), even our personal matters, we are willing to share and resolve together.

Yes, at least we know each others more at this perfect environment. Otherwise, how can we strive together? Everyone is so busy at work and don’t have times and moods to speak out from their heart at office. Initially, we planned to spend ½ hour for sharing, but end up to be 3 hours as all of us have so much things to share with others!

At the end of the day, Eric led us to formulate our “Dream Board” of which we wish to achieve in near future. Alice and I come out with 5 “dreams” and I will publish here when the Dream Board is completed. Then, there is no way for me to have excuse of not achieving them!

We ended our meeting at about 12.30 am and decided to continue in the next morning. However, I couldn’t sleep until around 2 am as there are so many things surrounded in my mind… happy things... sad things... enthusiastic things... and ......
